Summer Safety: Keeping Your Children Safe Preventable Accidents

I know your children are so happy to have time off from school. I know my grandsons are getting ready for some summer fun. While researching I ran across this article from Dr. Travis Stork of The Doctors.
Here are the three life threatening accidents Dr. Stork sees every summer.
All three of these accidents are preventable.

1.  Heat overexposure:  Talk to your childrens coaches or camp staff to make sure there is a plan to keep children hydrated and cool. Send your child with their own water bottle.

2.  Kids riding bikes, scooters, skateboards, or four wheeler without helmets.Dr. Stork mentions that he has seen devestating injuries that could of been prevented by that simple piece of head gear. These accidents are primarily happening when children are unsupervised while doing these activities.

3.   Buckle up your kids PLEASE. During the summer families tend to be more relaxed and children are being hurt by not being properly buckled into vehicles. Children are thrown around or outside of the car during a crash. Take a few minutes before a road trip to make sure everyone is secure.
